Advertising and partner policy

Moka is free for everything that matters to your dog's safety. To keep it running, the app may show partners, sponsored content and shop links. Here is how that works, with no fine print, and what we never do.

In Australia, partner offers are not switched on yet. Each country has its own partners and rules: nothing from Brazil appears in Australia, and the reverse. This page describes how it will work when it starts.

What each label means

All partner content carries one of these labels:

  • Sponsored: the brand paid to appear in that spot.
  • Partner shop: an affiliate link. If you buy through it, Moka may receive a commission, at no extra cost to you.
  • Community partner: rescues, shelters and adoption. They appear for free, with no payment to Moka.

Why am I seeing this?

Every labelled item has a "Why am I seeing this?" button. It shows who the partner is, why the item appeared there (for example, "because you opened the air travel guide"), whether there is a commission and a link to this page.

Moka's AI doesn't know who the sponsors are, and its answer stays neutral. When there are products, they appear separately, below the answer, chosen by type of need (for example, a travel crate), never by who paid more.

Where advertising never appears

At most one sponsored block per screen, with a limit per app session. And never:

  • in triage, symptoms or the emergency screen;
  • in "Can they eat it?" when the result is toxic or dangerous;
  • in questions about medicines and doses;
  • on the lost-pet poster;
  • on the Apple Wallet pass.

Categories we don't accept

We don't accept advertising or affiliate links for:

  • medicines;
  • sedatives and prescription calming products;
  • dewormers;
  • veterinary flea and tick products;
  • supplements.

These depend on your vet's assessment, and Moka doesn't want to influence that decision.

What partners receive

Only aggregated, anonymous numbers per campaign: how many times an item was shown and how many times it was tapped, added up by day. No name, email, location, dog details or device identifier. Affiliate links carry only Moka's code and a campaign number. We don't track you across apps (App Tracking Transparency). More in the Privacy Policy.

Who is responsible for a purchase

Moka sells nothing directly. You buy on the partner's website or in their shop, and the partner is responsible for the product or service, price, delivery, returns and refunds and customer service, including under the Australian Consumer Law. See also the Terms of Use.

How partners are approved

Shops, brands, services and rescues sign up through the portal at moka.pet/parceiros, and every sign-up and campaign is reviewed before it appears in the app. To take part, a partner must:

  • clearly identify advertising as advertising;
  • respect the categories we don't accept;
  • make no health claims (such as "cures", "prevents disease" or "replaces the vet");
  • not direct advertising at children.

We follow the spirit of the AANA Code of Ethics and the Australian Consumer Law. Partners that break these rules may be paused or removed.

Seen something wrong?

If an ad looks misleading, has no label or is in the wrong place, or you have a problem with a partner, tell us through the support page. We look at every report and can pause the campaign.
